After a full weekend of meetings, canvassing, Pride, community conversations, and public action, we are closing the weekend with something joyful, creative, and restorative.
On June 14, join us for Rise Up, Sing Out: A Concert for the First Amendment — an uplifting evening of music, community, creativity, and connection.
Hosted by the Committee for the First Amendment, this special livestream concert will feature an all-star lineup including Jane Fonda, Patti Smith, Bette Midler, Rufus Wainwright, Joy Reid, Wilson Cruz, Broadway Inspirational Voices, and more. Communities across the country will gather for local watch parties to livestream the 90-minute concert beginning at 7:30 PM ET.
Our local gathering begins at 5:00 PM.
From 5:00 PM to about 7:00 PM, we will ease into the evening with background music, wine, light refreshments, conversation, and space for people to paint, crochet, knit, quilt, sketch, write, or simply sit and talk. This part of the evening will be relaxed and unscripted — more like a community porch gathering than a formal program.
If you want to create something, come early enough to settle in and enjoy that time. Around 7:00 PM, we will begin shifting the room toward the livestream, and at 7:30 PM, we will watch the national concert together.
Together, we’ll celebrate the freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment — including speech, religion, press, assembly, and protest — and the people power that protects them.
You do not have to be an artist. You do not have to stay the whole time. Come in, settle down, create something, listen, laugh, reflect, and connect.
Bring a friend, bring a craft if you have one, or just bring yourself.
