🚨 DEFEND OLMSTEAD: STOP THE ROLLBACK ON DISABILITY RIGHTS
📢 Tyranny Tuesday — Disability Rights Edition
🗓️ Tuesday, July 28 | ⏰ 10–11 a.m.
📍 Thompson Federal Building, Downtown Reno
♿ In June 2026, the DOJ’s Office of Legal Counsel issued an opinion that guts decades of protection for people with disabilities to live in their own homes and communities — not institutions. It narrowly reinterprets the Supreme Court’s landmark Olmstead v. L.C. (1999) decision, claiming the ADA and Section 504 don’t require states to offer community-based care as an alternative to institutionalization.
⚠️ What’s at stake:
🏠 Home- and community-based services
🤝 Respite care & supported living
🧑🦽 Personal care & case management
This threatens older adults, people with physical, intellectual, and developmental disabilities, individuals living with dementia, and the family caregivers holding it all together. 💔
