Many Banning residents were unable to pay their utility bills for months because the city’s billing system failed to send bills. As a result, families are now facing large backlogged utility bills through no fault of their own. Residents should not be forced to bear the financial consequences of the city’s failures.
Community members are also speaking out against proposed warehouse and data center developments. Many residents do not want these projects and believe the city’s priority should be addressing its financial and infrastructure problems before pursuing new developments. Following a grand jury report raising concerns about approximately $40 million in alleged financial mismanagement by the City Council, residents are demanding transparency, accountability, and meaningful solutions, not development projects that many feel do not reflect the community’s priorities.
Whether you’re attending your first protest or have been involved in community advocacy for years, everyone who supports government accountability is welcome. Please bring water, wear comfortable clothing, and bring signs that respectfully express your message. Together, we will peacefully call for responsible leadership, honest governance, and solutions that put the people of Banning first.
