Today, Indivisible and Progressive Change Campaign Committee released the following statement after Senator Chuck Schumer’s announcement on the current whip count among Senate Democrats:
“We encourage Senate Democrats to stand firm in insisting on a clean 30 day funding bill.
Helping Republicans pass their harmful bill would shift outrage from Republicans to Democrats. This would derail our organizing in the states and districts of out-of-touch Republican politicians at the worst possible time – right as Congress goes on recess. But if Republicans shut down the government, we can use the coming weeks to make existing voter anger even bigger – and channel it into creating so much pain back home that Republicans come to the table for real negotiations that curb Musk’s power and protect vital programs.”
