WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Indivisible announced its endorsement of Jarrett Keohokalole in the Democratic primary in Hawaii’s 1st congressional district. This endorsement comes after Indivisible Hawai’i and its members endorsed Jarrett Keohokalole and nominated him for national endorsement. A vote of Indivisible members who live in the district found overwhelming supermajority support for Jarrett who is running for Congress at a time when democracy is under attack and the old playbook is no longer enough to meet the moment. As authoritarians target our communities, undermine our freedoms, and threaten the foundations of our democracy, voters are demanding a Democratic Party willing to fight back with urgency, clarity, and courage. That demand is shaping the future of the party — and it starts in the primaries.
“Jarrett Keohokalole has built his career fighting for working people across Hawaii, and his campaign is fueled by grassroots support. He’s refused money from crypto, AI, AIPAC, or corporate PACs. And his record demonstrates a commitment to actual constituents rather than industries or donors with large bank accounts. As a state senator, he has delivered real results to lower costs for local families, from tackling the rising cost of condominiums to modernizing government, while proving he is accountable to people — not corporations or special interests. At a time when too many families are being squeezed, Jarrett has the record, the vision, and the work ethic to build a stronger, more affordable Hawaii.
“Meanwhile, Congressman Ed Case has repeatedly been on the wrong side of the issues that matter most, from voting for the SAVE Act to refusing to join the rest of Hawaii’s congressional delegation in condemning abusive ICE tactics. While Case stayed silent, Jarrett fought to protect the constitutional rights of Hawaiians by championing legislation to keep ICE out of schools and medical facilities and prevent the misuse of residents’ personal information. Hawaii’s 1st congressional district deserves a representative who will stand with working people, not special interests, and that’s why Indivisible is proud to follow the members of Indivisible Hawaii with an enthusiastic endorsement of Jarrett Keohokalole,” said Ezra Levin, Co-Executive Director of Indivisible.
Indivisible endorsements start and end with the grassroots. Indivisible National is only endorsing candidates who are first endorsed by a local Indivisible group, and who receive supermajority support of Indivisible members in the district/state. No candidate who receives campaign donations from AIPAC, crypto, or the other funders of fascism is eligible for an Indivisible endorsement. All endorsed candidates represent a break with failed, status quo Democratic Party leadership and commit to driving toward a true opposition party in 2026 and beyond.
Indivisible Hawai’i State Network formally endorsed Jarrett Keohokalole and recommended him to Indivisible for our national endorsement.
Indivisible’s 2026 Primary Program
Last November, after Senate Democrats’ surrendered and voted to end the 41-day government shutdown without securing any commitments to lower health care costs or protect working families, Indivisible announced its largest primary program in the movement’s history. This program aims to turn the page on the failed leadership of Democrats like Senator Schumer, and identify and support fighters who will challenge feckless incumbents — to fight, not fold, in the face of fascism.
Indivisible is endorsing Jarrett Keohokalole in the HI-01 Congressional race today. Previously this cycle, Indivisible has endorsed:
- Dr. Abdul El-Sayed in the Michigan Senate race
- Will Lawrence and Donovan McKinney in the MI-07 and MI-13 Congressional races
- Brad Lander and Darializa Avila Chevalier in the NY-10 and NY-13 Congressional races
- Justin J. Pearson in the TN-09 Congressional race
- Julia Gonzales in the Colorado Senate race
- Peggy Flanagan in the Minnesota Senate race
- Dr. Jasmine Clark in the GA-13 Congressional race
- Robert Peters in the IL-02 Congressional race
- Analilia Mejia in the NY-11 Congressional race
- Randy Villegas in the CA-22 Congressional race
Indivisible will continue to work with local groups to support additional candidates in competitive primaries across the country. In the coming months, Indivisible will direct its network of activists, volunteers, and resources to help these endorsed candidates win their primaries, scaling phone banks, text programs, and canvassing efforts to unprecedented levels for the 2026 cycle.
