Every Thursday, Indivisible co-founders Ezra Levin and Leah Greenberg host a participatory conversation on the week’s news, the state of our democracy, and our plan to defeat the authoritarian threats we face.
Washington, D.C. — Today, Leah Greenberg, Indivisible’s Co-Executive Director, released the following statement on the House passage of Rep. Pramila Jayapal’s War Powers Resolution:
“Five months after President Trump launched an unauthorized war against Iran, Congress has once again reaffirmed a basic constitutional principle: no president has the authority to take the United States to war without congressional authorization. This war is illegal and must end now.
“At a time when Americans are struggling to afford gas and groceries, Trump has funneled billions of taxpayer dollars into more bombs and destruction instead of lowering costs or investing in the needs of people here at home. Today’s vote is an important step, but Congress cannot stop here. Lawmakers must ensure the executive branch complies with this directive and use every tool available to bring this war to an end.”
