  • Indivisible on Democratic Leadership Rejecting Massie Amendment & Choosing Blank-Check Military Aid

    Jul 15, 2026

Washington, D.C. — Today Andrew O’Neill, National Advocacy Director of Indivisible, released the following statement after the majority of House Democratic leadership opposed Rep. Thomas Massie’s amendment to eliminate $3.3 billion in Foreign Military Financing for Israel:

“Today, the majority of House Democratic leadership chose to defend billions in military aid to Israel over the will of nearly 75% of Democratic voters and 103 members of their own caucus. This vote was about whether Congress would continue writing blank checks to a government whose military campaign has produced catastrophic civilian suffering in Gaza and Lebanon, obstructed humanitarian aid, and dragged the United States into an unprovoked and reckless war with Iran. Instead of enforcing accountability, Democrats who opposed this amendment chose to preserve the status quo.

“That cannot become the blueprint for the upcoming National Defense Authorization Act. Congress should not approve another dollar in military aid that deepens U.S. military entanglement, fuels Trump’s reckless foreign policy, and subsidizes a military campaign that has destabilized the region and inflicted devastating civilian harm. Today’s vote put Democratic leadership at odds with their own caucus, their own voters, and the growing consensus that Congress cannot continue writing blank checks for Netanyahu’s government. They should not repeat that mistake on the NDAA.”
