Washington, D.C. — Today Leah Greenberg, Co-Executive Director of Indivisible, released the following statement on the Department of Justice’s indictment of 15 Minnesota activists:
“The people of Minnesota have shown us what it means to be a good neighbor. They didn’t just stand by while ICE terrorized their community — they came together, organized, and looked out for one another to protect their immigrant neighbors. They’ve given us the blueprint for what nonviolent civil resistance can, and should, look like nationwide.
“And that’s exactly why Trump’s regime is going after these Minnesotan activists. He’s weaponized the DOJ to intimidate anyone who wants to follow in Minnesota’s footsteps and stand up against his administration’s attacks on our rights and our neighbors.
“These indictments are meant to sow fear and quash dissent against Trump’s mass deportation agenda. But Minnesotans didn’t give in to fearmongering when ICE and Border Patrol carried out horrifying acts of violence in their communities, and neither will we now. Trump wants to divide us, but we will continue to peacefully organize and stand together.”
