  • Indivisible on House Accountability: Mills Should Be Expelled from Congress

    Apr 21, 2026

Washington, D.C. — Today, Indivisible released the following statement in response to the resignation of Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick and the need for accountability for Rep. Cory Mills:

“While we are glad that Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick is resigning from Congress, accountability cannot be selective. The serious allegations against Rep. Cory Mills, which describe a disturbing pattern of predatory and abusive behavior, demand the same level of urgency and action. Mills should resign, or the House must move to expel him.

“This is about more than any one member – it’s about whether Congress is willing to uphold even the most basic standards of conduct. No one is above the rules, and no one should be shielded because of their party. We support representatives who have called on the House Ethics Committee to expedite its investigations into House members accused of serious misdeeds, including Rep. Cory Mills, so we can ensure swift accountability. We can’t wait around while powerful Members of Congress continue to abuse their power. Enough is enough,” said Leah Greenberg, Indivisible’s Co-Executive Director.

“During my time in the U.S. Army, we were all held to a single standard of conduct, and I expect the same from the U.S. House of Representatives. It is unacceptable for House Republicans to drag their feet on the serious allegations against Rep. Cory Mills. The Ethics Committee should expedite its investigation now and oust any member of Congress lacking integrity, without partisan delay tactics that allow abuses of power to go unchecked,” said Chuck Tyler, Group Leader of CFL BIPOC Indivisible.
