Grassroots organization provides update on its For The People Project
Washington, DC — Today, Meagan Hatcher-Mays, Director of Democracy Policy, issued the following statement:
“Indivisible recently launched its For The People Project, a multimillion dollar effort to support the work our groups are doing across the country to achieve critical democracy reforms. Since its launch, our grassroots groups, as well as our national organization, have worked diligently to help build momentum for sweeping reforms. Today, the Senate introduced its version of the For the People Act, a critical step forward for democracy reform.
“Our democracy still needs to be massively restructured in order to be equitable. We must correct racist and discriminatory policies that have disenfranchised Black people and people of color by passing the John Lewis Voting Rights Act and D.C. Statehood. And we need to eliminate the filibuster. There is no Republican currently in the Senate who has shown an interest in doing what is needed to fix our democracy. So we must move forward by any means necessary–no excuses. These reforms, along with the For The People Act, will help our democracy avert a crisis and must be a priority. There’s a growing list of popular policies that will face certain defeat unless the filibuster goes, all while GOP-led state legislatures rush to make voting more difficult and time consuming. Congress must act now.”
Indivisible’s For The People Project has been working to deliver the democracy reforms needed to protect our elections, expand rights, and deliver the policies that America voted for:

ABOUT THE INDIVISIBLE PROJECT
The Indivisible Project (501c4) is a social movement non-profit driven by a vision of a real democracy – of, by, and for the people. Indivisible began in 2016 as a viral guide to resisting Trump’s agenda. Today, the Indivisible movement is a network of thousands of local groups and millions of activists across every state. The Indivisible Project drives campaigns for bold progressive policies, lobbies Congress, and equips activists with tools to build lasting progressive power, everywhere. Together, we fight to defeat the rightwing takeover of American government and build an inclusive democracy.
