National Survey on No Kings 3 Protests

Key Findings from National Poll of 3,000 Voters
    Fielded April 1–7, 2026  |  YGov Blue  |  Margin of Error: ±2%

Americans Support Protestors and Say Trump is Exceeding His Authority

A new national survey of 3,000 voters conducted in the week following the March 28 No Kings protests finds broad public awareness of the historic protest, majority agreement that the president is exceeding constitutional limits, and net-positive support for the protests across party lines.

The findings suggest that the No Kings movement reflects a mainstream concern about presidential overreach. Support extends well beyond the Democratic base into independent and moderate voters.

    1. Majority of Voters Say the President Is Exceeding Constitutional Limits

57% of voters agree or strongly agree that the president is currently exceeding the constitutional limits of his authority, including 45% who strongly agree. This view is held across demographic lines and extends into the political center: 67% of independents and 65% of moderates agree.

    Constitutional Limits % Agree
All voters (strongly agree + somewhat agree) 57%
    Independents 67%
    Moderates 65%

    2. No Kings Protests Have Net-Positive Support Among All Voters

47% of voters support the No Kings protests (38% strongly, 9% somewhat), compared to 35% who oppose. That represents a net +12 favorability rating among the full electorate. Support is strongest among voters who disapprove of the president’s job performance (67% strongly support), but extends well into the center.

Net Favorability for No Kings Protests
    All voters +12 points
    Independents +10 points
    Moderates +23 points

    3. Protests Achieved Overwhelming Public Awareness

78% of voters heard at least something about the March 28 No Kings protests, with 36% reporting they had heard “a great deal.” Awareness was high across age groups, demographics, and political affiliations, indicating the protests successfully broke through the national media landscape.

    Awareness of No Kings Protests
    Heard a great deal 36%
    Heard some 42%
Total awareness (great deal + some) 78%

    4. The Movement Is Growing, and Has Room to Grow Further

10% of all voters reported participating in No Kings 3 (7% in person, 3% virtually), and among those participants, nearly one in three (32%) were first-timers. But the data on unmet demand and future intent suggest the movement’s mobilization potential is far larger than what showed up on March 28.

16% of all voters say they wanted to participate but were unable to. And looking ahead, 27% of voters say they are very or somewhat likely to attend a protest or demonstration in the next few months, including 43% of voters between 18-29 years old, 20% of independents and 27% of union household members.

    Participation % of All Voters
Participated in No Kings 3 in person 7%
Wanted to participate but were unable 16%
First-time participants (among those who participated) 32%
    First-timers among 18–29 year olds 52%
Very/somewhat likely to attend a protest in coming months 27%
Independents very/somewhat likely to attend 18%

    5. Participants Are Driven by Concern About Presidential Overreach

When asked their most important reasons for participating (select up to 3), the top motivations centered on the abuse of executive power and the defense of democratic institutions — not narrow partisan grievances.

    Reason for Participating % Selected
Concerns about presidential overreach or abuse of power 68%
Opposition to specific Trump administration policies 51%
Concerns about attacks on immigrants or civil rights 49%
    Protecting democratic institutions 43%
Solidarity with others who feel the same way 26%
To send a message to elected officials 24%

    6. Union Households Are More Engaged Across the Board

Voters in union households showed significantly higher awareness, participation, and support for the protests than non-union households, underscoring the role of labor organizing infrastructure in the No Kings movement.

    Union HH Non-Union HH
    Heard “a great deal” 43% 34%
    Attended in person 12% 5%
    Strongly support protests 46% 36%
