WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Indivisible’s co-executive director Leah Greenberg issued the following statement in response to Sen. Durbin and Sen. Whitehouse’s letter to Chief Justice Roberts requesting a meeting and for Justice Alito to recuse himself from January 6th cases:
“This request to Roberts must be just the first step in a thorough investigation.
“John Roberts has no record of enforcing meaningful accountability; indeed, he has actively participated in the delegitimization of the Court. His word alone is laughably insufficient when our democracy is at stake. Durbin must not stop with a polite meeting request; he must use his gavel and subpoena power to truly get to the bottom of Alito’s allegiance to Trump and what Roberts has done to cover for him.”
