  • Supermajority of Maine Indivisible Members vote to endorse Graham Platner for Senate

    May 5, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Indivisible announced its endorsement of Graham Platner in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate in Maine. In a vote taken over the weekend, an overwhelming supermajority of Indivisible members in Maine voted to endorse Platner, following six local Indivisible group endorsement across the state. Platner’s endorsement by Indivisible is part of a 2026 primary program that aims to turn the page on failed leadership and support candidates who will fight, not fold, in the face of fascism.

“Indivisible is endorsing Graham Platner because he is the kind of fighter this moment demands – and he’s proven that to a supermajority of Indivisible Mainers. He entered this Senate race to dismantle the billionaire economy and challenge the status quo, and while Chuck Schumer tried to defeat him with his own hand-picked candidate, Schumer failed because rank and file Democrats don’t want more of the same failed leadership that got us here.”

“We’re trying to defeat fascists in the White House and the Congress, and we can’t afford to have another Schumer-picked candidate fail to defeat Susan Collins. Graham Platner represents a clean break from the feckless, status quo leadership that has too often backed loser candidates in Maine and folded under pressure in D.C. We need to win and we need accountability and bold action when we do. Platner offers a clear plan for both. He’s a leader who isn’t afraid to challenge entrenched power, take on corruption, and put people over donors. We need leaders in the Senate who are ready to fight, not fold, in the face of fascism. Graham Platner is the person for the job,” said Ezra Levin, Co-Executive Director of Indivisible.

“Graham understands that we need big, structural change in how things operate in America, so that everyone gets a chance to eat at the table of success, not just the billionaires,” said Greg Dumas, Group Leader of Saco Bay Indivisible (Saco, ME).

“Indivisible Peninsula endorsed Graham Platner because he is building a movement to outlast his Senate campaign—a movement that will build an America for working people with a government that delivers on its promise to serve its citizens,” said Clare Potter, Group Leader of Indivisible Peninsula (Blue Hill, ME).

“Lake Region Indivisible, Bridgton, Maine, has endorsed Graham Platner as the Democratic candidate for the Senate with a 90% supermajority. We believe Graham is the best candidate to beat Republican Susan Collins in November. He will also represent the working people of Maine and resist and oppose the assaults by the Trump regime on our nation’s democracy. Graham’s platform and personal philosophy represent the progressive political direction we feel this country must embrace for the future. We are proud to join other Maine Indivisible groups who have also endorsed Graham,” said Amy Strum, Group Leader of Lake Region Indivisible (Bridgton, ME).

“Following a unanimous recommendation from our core endorsement group and a membership Q&A, over 95% of our full membership voted to endorse Graham Platner. This high level of consensus reflects our members’ deep commitment to his candidacy. As a Maine native of the working class and a wounded U.S. Marine combat veteran Graham is the fighter and the candidate we need to challenge the billionaire economy,” said Deb Hamilton, Group Leader of Western Kennebec County Indivisible.

“Graham Platner is the best candidate to defeat Susan Collins in November and defend residents of Maine and America against the oppressive Trump regime. His desire to reshape our society for a more equitable future, not merely return to the status quo, is a refreshing new page in a politics too long stuck fiddling at the margins. We are proud to fight for Graham because we know he fights for us,” said Jacob Ellis, Group Leader of Indivisible Greater Portland Maine.

“Graham Platner has the right message. We’ve watched our democracy erode at the hand of billionaires, big lobbyists and super PACs. Everyone knows Washington is broken but few are willing to say it,” said Melissa Berky, Group Leader of Indivisible Bangor.

Indivisible endorsements start and end with the grassroots. Indivisible National is only endorsing candidates who are first endorsed by a local Indivisible group, and who receive supermajority support of Indivisible members in the district/state. No candidate who receives campaign donations from AIPAC, crypto, or the other funders of fascism is eligible for an Indivisible endorsement. All endorsed candidates represent a break with failed, status quo Democratic Party leadership and commit to driving toward a true opposition party in 2026 and beyond.

Six Indivisible groups (Saco Bay Indivisible, Western Kennebec County Indivisible, Indivisible Peninsula, Indivisible Bangor, Greater Portland Indivisible, Lake Region Indivisible) formally endorsed Graham Platner and recommended him to Indivisible for our national endorsement.

    Indivisible’s 2026 Primary Program

Last November, after Senate Democrats’ surrendered and voted to end the 41-day government shutdown without securing any commitments to lower health care costs or protect working families, Indivisible announced its largest primary program in the movement’s history. This program aims to turn the page on the failed leadership of Democrats like Senator Schumer, and identify and support fighters who will challenge feckless incumbents — to fight, not fold, in the face of fascism.

Indivisible is endorsing Graham Platner in the Maine Senate race today. Previously, Indivisible has endorsed Julia Gonzales in the Colorado Senate race, Peggy Flanagan in the Minnesota Senate race, Brad Lander in the NY-10 Congressional race, Dr. Jasmine Clark in the GA-13 Congressional race, Robert Peters in the IL-02 Congressional race, Analilia Mejia in the NY-11 Congressional race, and Randy Villegas in the CA-22 Congressional this cycle.

Indivisible will continue to work with local groups to support additional candidates in competitive primaries across the country. In the coming months, Indivisible will direct its network of activists, volunteers, and resources to help these endorsed candidates win their primaries, scaling phone banks, text programs, and canvassing efforts to unprecedented levels for the 2026 cycle.
