Call On Your Rep. to Champion Reproductive Freedom and Protect Abortion Access

It’s been more than a year since the six Republican extremists on the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and struck down our constitutional right to abortion care. Since then, Republican-led state legislatures across the country have instituted egregious abortion bans, leaving millions of people unable to make their own reproductive health decisions or access necessary medical care. Several of these bans go so far as to criminalize people who travel out of state for legal abortion care and allow police to access private reproductive health data saved online in cases where they suspect someone has received abortion care. 

We need Congress to step up and pass federal legislation to safeguard our reproductive freedom. 

House Democrats have already rallied around the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA) which would codify Roe v. Wade and affirm the right to abortion. Every Democrat – besides Reps. Cuellar and Gonzalez from Texas – has cosponsored WHPA and signed on to a discharge petition to force a floor vote on the bill. WHPA is a crucial first step, but we can’t stop there. There’s a lot to be done to ensure that everyone, everywhere has bodily autonomy – and can actually access the reproductive health care they want and need. 

We need all Democrats to continue to fight for our reproductive rights and sign onto the bills in Indivisible’s Reproductive Freedom Agenda, which includes:

  • HR 782: Ensuring Women’s Right to Reproductive Freedom Act, to protect the right to travel in order to seek abortion care,
  • HR 3420: My Body, My Data Act, to protect personal reproductive health care data stored in apps, cell phones, and search engines, and
  • HR 4303: Abortion Justice Act, to protect meaningful access to abortion care for all

It’s crucial that Democrats fight for reproductive freedom, even while Republicans have the majority in the House. We know that abortion is a winning issue at the polls, and Members of Congress who are strong champions for abortion rights are strong candidates for 2024. Then, when Democrats regain the House, we’ve already built the support needed to pass these bills and protect our rights!

We need House Democrats to be Champions for Reproductive Freedom

Hello, I’m a constituent from [part of the state], and I’m calling to ask [Representative] to be a Champion for Reproductive Freedom. 

Everyone should be able to make their own reproductive health decisions without interference from MAGA Republicans and their extreme, anti-abortion agenda. Yet, since Roe v. Wade was overturned, over 20 states have implemented abortion bans that have denied millions of people access to necessary medical care. 

We need Congress to act now to pass federal legislation and protect our reproductive freedom. 

I wanted to thank [Representative] for cosponsoring the Women’s Health Protection Act, which is an important first step. However, I also urge [Representative] to cosponsor the following bills:

  • HR 782: Ensuring Women’s Right to Reproductive Freedom Act
