Indivisible on Biden’s Plan to Relieve Student Debt for Millions: ‘He’s determined to keep his promise.’
Washington, D.C. — Today, Andrew O’Neill, Indivisible’s Legislative Director, issued the following statement following President Biden’s announcement of additional student debt relief for millions of Americans:
“Americans woke up this morning to two very different announcements – as Donald Trump bragged about overturning Roe v. Wade and tearing abortion rights away from millions, Joe Biden expanded student debt relief to millions. It’s emblematic of their different visions for our country, one that takes us backward versus one that looks to the future. We know which one we prefer.
“Progressives have led the fight for student debt cancellation, and Joe Biden has responded. More than 30 million folks will now get relief from Biden's programs – that's a huge deal. The fight for full student debt cancellation continues, and we know we're up against Republicans in Congress and on the Supreme Court who are committed to protecting a system of debt that drags down families and working people.
“This latest announcement from President Biden shows he’s determined to keep his promise. We're winning, and that we need to keep going until nobody is prevented from going to school, buying a home, affording medical care, or just living their lives because of student debt.”
