We are horrified by the catastrophic deterioration in the humanitarian situation in Gaza, with the Israeli government’s ongoing bombardment and blockade of life-sustaining supplies like water, food, medicine, and power. Thousands of innocent people are dead and the toll of victims of the bombardment campaign and blockade continues to rise. The risks of escalation into a regional crisis grow by the hour. We urgently need de-escalation. We call on the Biden administration to use all tools at its disposal to de-escalate the crisis, ensure that the hostages held by Hamas are released, and ensure that humanitarian aid can flow to the people in Gaza.
