Washington, DC — In response to the White House’s announced new actions to lower housing costs by limiting rent increases and building more homes, Indivisible’s Managing Director Mari Urbina released the following statement:
“We love to see the White House take executive action to protect tenants from exorbitant rent increases. This would be a great step in the direction of providing protections for all tenants.
“5% caps on rent increases, 5-day grace periods: every renter knows these things make a big difference. Renters will be able to look at these policies and see that the Biden-Harris Administration is protecting them from corporate landlords and putting money in their pockets. It's a big deal for a Democratic administration to be speaking to people in these terms. We want to see more of it.”
“We encourage the Biden-Harris Administration to continue taking bold action on behalf of the American people.”

The Indivisible Project (501c4) is a social movement non-profit driven by a vision of a real democracy - of, by, and for the people. Indivisible began in 2016 as a viral guide to resisting Trump’s agenda. Today, the Indivisible movement is a network of thousands of local groups and millions of activists across every state. The Indivisible Project drives campaigns for bold progressive policies, lobbies Congress, and equips activists with tools to build lasting progressive power, everywhere. Together, we fight to defeat the rightwing takeover of American government and build an inclusive democracy.
