Washington, D.C. — Today, Indivisible’s Chief Campaigns Officer Sarah Dohl released the following statement on Judge Janet Protasiewicz’s victory in the Wisconsin Supreme Court Election:
“Judge Janet Protasiewicz’s victory is a testament to her ability to connect with the voters through her commitment to protecting and fighting for every person’s right to choice, freedom, and democracy. She is beyond qualified, and will bring balance and much-needed perspective to the Supreme Court of Wisconsin. Her victory sets a clear precedent: being pro-choice, pro-equality, pro-democracy, and pro-people wins.
“This battle is an indicator that Democrats can build unprecedented grassroots energy by staying true to their values. Indivisible text-bank volunteers kept saying over and over that based on their conversations with voters, they understand precisely what’s on the ballot: abortion and democracy. Anger about Roe hasn’t dissipated. Fear for our democracy remains. Voters are still alarmed by the MAGA extremism of candidates like Dan Kelly. And if this race is an early bellwether — we can safely say that Republicans didn’t learn their lesson in 2022.
“The enthusiasm and resilience of the Democratic base are on full display in Wisconsin. Indivisible local activists’ urgency is why we got involved early in the primary — before many organizations jumped in — and were able to build a strong base of volunteers for our voter contact efforts over the past 3 months. Despite the disappointing results in the Senate race last year, Wisconsin volunteers remain as eager as ever to get involved and make their voices heard.
“In the last days of this race, our text-bank volunteers have been sending texts at nearly general-election levels. Indivisible groups across the country have organized to send tens of thousands of postcards to Wisconsin voters. Donations from grassroots donors have been on pace with some of the biggest crunch moments of the last couple of years. For a state Supreme Court race in an off-year election, that’s unheard of. We are so proud to have been an early part of this campaign, and cannot congratulate Judge Janet and the people of Wisconsin enough.”
About Indivisible’s Award-winning Texting Program:
- Indivisibles sent over 560,000 texts to voters through our award-winning texting program for this election.
- This includes 140,000 texts in the primary election, followed by 420,000 in the general election.
- In the general election, Indivisible dedicated 70,000 texts specifically to persuadable and *household tripling audiences.
- Household tripling is a strategic texting method focused on voters who are identified as highly likely voters who live with individuals who were identified as less likely voters. Indivisible volunteers texted the highly likely voters to confirm their support, and asking them to encourage their household members to also vote.
- Indivisible volunteers identified over 7,000 voters who support Judge Janet. In the last election, the results were determined by 6,000 votes.
- Indivisible’s texting program led with abortion and democracy in conversations with voters.
- Indivisible raised $172,000, hitting it’s top 10 highest PAC donations for a race of all time since 2017.
