Washington, DC — Today, Indivisible’s co-founder Ezra Levin released the following statement:
“Trump blinked because people all over the country raised their voices, and Democrats fought back. It's proof that when we organize and expose the depravity of his agenda, we win. But this fight isn’t over. After retreating on the OMB power grab memo, the White House is already insisting they will continue with chaos, cruelty, and unconstitutionality underlying that memo. They scrapped the memo and kept the coup.
“We need Democratic leadership to unify the caucus against this - and fast. Within the next 24 hours, Democrats need to take concrete steps to stop or at the very least slow Trump’s assault on Americans. There’s one obvious step they can take now: throw everything they have into sinking the nomination of Russell Vought, the architect of this unconstitutional chaos.
“Vought is the human embodiment of this unconstitutional OMB memo. Every Democrat should be supporting Schumer’s call for him to be rescinded and committing to voting no, and Republicans would be smart to do the same. Any Republican who supports Russell Vought is voting in favor of the chaos. They will be complicit in all the cascading disasters for the American people that we got a preview of this week. ”
“Indivisibles made 13,000 calls to Congress in the last 24 hours. There is a movement of people out there paying attention and fighting back. They expect their representatives in Congress to do the same.”
