Washington, DC — Today the national progressive grassroots organization Indivisible announced endorsements for a slate of Missouri Democratic candidates. The August 2nd primary election will determine Democratic nominees for important federal races. The candidates to receive Indivisible’s endorsement are:
- Rep. Cori Bush (MO-01)
- Lucas Kunce (MO-Sen)
- Trish Gunby (MO-02)
- Randi McCallian (MO-08)
“We’re thrilled to endorse this slate of Show-Me State progressives ahead of tomorrow’s primary elections in Missouri. From deep blue St. Louis, to its blue-trending suburbs, to rural Southern Missouri and across the entire state, our activists are leaving no stone unturned in the effort to beat back MAGA extremism,” said Leah Greenberg, Co-Founder and Co-Executive Director of Indivisible. “Senator Hawley was an instigator in the January 6th attack on our democracy and his legacy, and that of the Missouri Republican Party, have been irreparably damaged. We can’t allow such a betrayal to go unanswered. So Missouri Indivisibles are ready to fight back in blue, purple, and red communities all across the state.”
Indivisible is again endorsing incumbent Rep. Cori Bush (MO-01), who brings a desperately-needed fresh voice and under-represented personal experience to Washington. When the eviction moratorium was set to expire in 2020, Cori refused to ignore the crisis and take a pre-scheduled Congressional break, instead staying in DC and sleeping on the steps of Congress to protest. Rep. Bush has introduced vital legislation in her first term, focusing on environmental, racial, and social justice.
Indivisible is also endorsing a number of challengers in Republican-held seats. Lucas Kunce (MO-Sen) brings an unapologetically populist, service-oriented, honorable voice to Missouri politics. Born and raised in a working class Jefferson City neighborhood, Lucas has a devotion to his state and his country that would be a breath of fresh air in the Senate following Hawley’s despicable display of false patriotism. Trish Gunby (MO-02) spent years as a stay-at-home mom and church leader, moved by her faith to work for social justice causes and help her community. But she was asked by her neighbors to represent them at the Missouri Statehouse, and it changed her life, and she’s certain to change the House of Representatives. And Randi McCallian (MO-08) knows the importance of community support and connections, especially in the small towns of rural Missouri. As the director of a multi-state maternal and child health program for farm-working families, she knows how our current leadership has completely failed the working class families of the district.
