Washington, D.C. — Today, Indivisible’s Co-Founder and Co-Executive Director Ezra Levin released the following statement on John Mannion’s victory in New York’s 22nd congressional district:
“Brandon Williams’ single term in Congress will be marked by broken promises and arrogance. From day one, he aligned himself with the most extreme members of the GOP, voted to strip Social Security and Medicare from constituents, and failed to move into the district – as he promised to do.
“His biggest mistake was thinking he could get away with it. Indivisibles across Oneida and Madison counties went all in to hold Brandon Williams accountable every step of the way. From hosting “Move in or Move Out” protests and calling him out in town halls for threatening Social Security and Medicare funding, to knocking on doors and connecting with voters to demand real leadership, they left no stone unturned.
“Now, after two years of misrepresentation and negligence, New York’s 22nd district will have a chance at real leadership in Congress. Indivisible congratulates John Mannion on this win, and Indivisibles and activists across the district who helped make it happen.”
Indivisible identified Rep. Brandon Williams as one of eighteen Unrepresentatives following the 2022 election, working with local groups to hold him accountable for supporting MAGA extremism despite representing a Biden-voting district.
