Washington, DC — Today, Indivisible’s co-executive director Leah Greenberg released the following statement:
“Elon Musk and Russ Vought aren’t just testing the limits of the law—they’re shattering them, daring anyone to stop them. This attack on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is illegal, unconstitutional, and a blatant power grab by billionaires who want to rig the system even further in their favor.
“The CFPB has done what few agencies dare to do: take on big banks and corporate predators—and win. That’s exactly why Musk and his cronies want it gone. This isn’t about saving money. It’s about making it easier for the ultra-rich to keep scamming the rest of us, unchecked and unchallenged. And let's not forget: Musk isn’t just any billionaire throwing his weight around—he has clear conflicts of interest with massive financial stakes in industries regulated by the very agencies he’s trying to dismantle.
“We won’t let them get away with it. This is a five-alarm fire for anyone who gives a damn about holding corporate thieves accountable. The CFPB is a lifeline for working people, and we will not stand by while right-wing extremists and billionaire robber barons try to burn it to the ground.”
