Washington, D.C. — Today, Leah Greenberg, Indivisible’s co-founder and co-executive director, released the following statement on the Israeli government’s mass starvation in Gaza:
“The mass starvation in Gaza isn’t accidental – it’s the result of deliberate policy choices. After months of a full blockade, Netanyahu is now allowing in only a fraction of the aid needed, and distribution sites have become nightmarish death traps. The images are so harrowing that even Trump has broken with Netanyahu over what he’s seeing on TV. But sympathy isn’t enough. We need action.
“We’ve long called for the US to use its full leverage. Doing so could achieve a ceasefire, end what we – and leading human rights groups – consider an ongoing genocide, and secure the release of all hostages. Tragically, we have neither a president nor a Congress currently willing to act.
“Still, most Democrats – and an increasing number of Republicans – agree this intentional starvation must end. Now that Trump has echoed those concerns, Congress must press him to follow through. This is a humanitarian nightmare happening on our dime. We must do our part to end it.”
Indivisible is driving calls to Senate and House offices demanding they ensure humanitarian assistance is immediately and safely provided to Palestinians in Gaza (Senate Call Script; House Call Script):
I’m calling to urge Senator [NAME] to work to end the forced starvation of over 2 million people in Gaza.
Recently, even President Trump has acknowledged the horror. Now, Congress needs to push him to take immediate action to ensure humanitarian aid flows safely and freely through trusted channels.
Will Senator [NAME] act to ensure humanitarian assistance is safely delivered to Palestinians being starved in Gaza?
