Washington, D.C. — Today, Andrew O’Neill, Indivisible’s National Advocacy Director, released the following statement on the House’s vote to release the Epstein Files:
“The vote to release the Epstein files is not a political game. It’s about truth, accountability, and justice for the survivors whose lives were shattered by sick, powerful people. Survivors deserve more than answers – they deserve justice.
“This bill passing the House is the first step toward that long-overdue justice. Despite Mike Johnson and Trump loyalists scrambling to bury it for months, the public pressure from across the political spectrum was overwhelming. Republicans found themselves forced to choose between blindly protecting Trump and facing a base that expects them to prioritize justice and deliver transparency. Now Trump is pretending this was his idea all along, reversing course once it became clear he couldn’t stop it. The question now is whether Majority Leader Thune and Senate Republicans will do what’s right, or if they’ll keep providing cover..
“When the truth comes out, it won’t be because Trump’s coalition grew a conscience. It’ll be because ordinary people demanded transparency and justice. Everyone involved should be held accountable.”
