Washington, DC—Today, the Indivisible Project announced its endorsement of Stacey Abrams for Georgia governor.
“Stacey Abrams has been a fighter for Georgians for more than a decade. Earlier this year, primary voters embraced her campaign’s bold plans for education, health care, and affordable housing. In November, she will become the nation’s first black woman governor and show the country that Georgia is ready for a progressive governor,” said María Urbina, the National Political Director of the Indivisible Project.
“With the rights of our most vulnerable citizens under attack, candidates like Stacey are speaking to the issues that matter to a broad cross-racial coalition of working families in Georgia,” Urbina said. “Her historic candidacy demonstrates the hunger all across the country — including in southern states — for candidates who push for progressive and inclusive ideals. We know that Stacey Abrams will be a great governor and are proud to endorse her.”
To earn Indivisible’s national endorsement, a candidate must clear a tough three-stage process that requires buy-in from local Indivisible group members at multiple points. A candidate cannot be endorsed without a strong platform and the enthusiastic support of informed, energized voters across their district. Indivisible believes Stacey Abrams has all those things, and more.
