Washington, DC—Tonight, the Indivisible Project’s national political director Maria Urbina released the following statement:
“We are happy to congratulate Dana Balter on her victory in New York’s 24th District. She earned the support of Indivisibles in the district with her strong progressive platform and deep local roots. She is ready to take on Rep. Katko in November.”
“Dana’s journey from concerned citizen and Indivisible activist to Democratic nominee for Congress is one that makes our movement proud. It should also make Republicans very nervous. Candidates like Dana Balter are changing what is politically possible in districts across the country. We’re with Dana from now through November.”
Dana Balter was one of the first candidates that the Indivisible Project has endorsed at the national level. To earn Indivisible’s national endorsement, a candidate must clear a tough three-stage process that requires buy-in from local Indivisible group members at multiple points. A candidate cannot be endorsed without a strong platform and the enthusiastic support of informed, energized voters across their district.
