Indivisible launches unprecedented electoral program across all 50 states

Indivisible groups will be offered access to scalable voter contact tools, training and strategic guidance in 50 states and 435 districts

Washington, DC—The Indivisible Project announced today an unprecedented national electoral program to provide nationwide access to phonebanking and canvassing tools, training and strategic support to groups in all 50 states, as well as the formation of a new PAC, Indivisible Action. At its core, the program aims to equip Indivisible groups across the country with the resources they need to build long-term power to contest everywhere, democratize the tools that historically have only lived with political parties and candidates to win elections, and ultimately change what’s politically possible so that no seat will ever be “unwinnable” again. The program will also offer deep support, including a national volunteer program, on 73 target races across 13 states.

“Indivisible groups around the country have already proven that the politically impossible is possible this year,” said María Urbina, national political director for the Indivisible Project. “This grassroots approach puts power in the hands of everyday people.”

Beginning today, Indivisible Action will offer Indivisible groups not coordinating with political campaigns training, strategic guidance, support, and nationwide access to scalable voter contact tools (phonebanking and canvassing) through the Voter Activation Network (VAN). Access to these tools will empower Indivisible groups across the country to:

• Canvass door-to-door using only a cell phone or tablet

• Make phone calls to voters in their area

• Keep track of voters’ responses to questions

• Bring in new members

• Show a group’s power and impact with numbers

• Mobilize voters in the final days before the election

Building on this 50 state approach, Indivisible has already doubled its organizing staff capacity to strategically support races in 13 states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Mississippi, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin. Additionally, the targeted strategy will offer a national volunteer peer-to-peer text-banking and phonebanking program that could reach millions of voters. Indivisible’s targeted work in these 13 states will touch:

• 11 governor’s races (7 GOP-held seats, 4 Democrat-held seats);

• 12 Senate races (6 GOP-held seats, 6 Democrat-held seats); and,

• 50 competitive House races (40 GOP-held districts and 10 Democrat-held districts).

This widespread access to electoral tools delivers on promises outlined last year with the launch of Indivisible435.

“This moment calls for us to build long term power, build infrastructure, and double down on our belief that where we fight, we win,” said Urbina. “We see this as an extension of our work to disrupt gatekeeping structures and get strong progressive candidates elected. With the right tools, training and strategic support, Indivisible groups will be an unstoppable force.”

This programming will be enabled by the recent formation of Indivisible Action, a PAC launched this month. Indivisible Action will be overwhelmingly fueled by small-dollar donors, those who give less than $2,500 cumulative annually. Indivisible Action will be required by the FEC to disclose all donors to this entity who contribute more than $200 annually. While there is no legal limit for how much an individual may give, Indivisible Action will not accept gifts larger than 20% of its $1 million budget. More information is available here.
