Washington, DC — The Indivisible Project’s Director of Democracy Policy Meagan Hatcher-Mays released the following statement, following the House Judiciary Committee’s passage of two articles of impeachment:
“The impeachment vote in the House Judiciary Committee today shows that Republicans continue to be in denial about Trump's relentless corruption and the ongoing threat he poses to our democracy.
“There is a mountain of evidence that proves Trump invited a foreign government to interfere in the 2020 elections, and that he tried to cover it up. Today's vote is a critical final step before the full House votes on impeachment.
“We are confident that Donald Trump will be impeached in the House, a result that is only possible because of Indivisibles around the country who have been fighting Trump’s prolific corruption since day one and who have been calling for Trump’s removal since he fired FBI Director James Comey in 2017. Indivisibles are still calling Democratic representatives to thank them for standing up to defend our democracy, and calling their Republican representatives to invite them to join this fight as well.”
