Washington, DC — Today, Indivisible’s co-executive directors Leah Greenberg and Ezra Levin shared the following statement:
“This past weekend, we received heartbreaking news: our colleague Tim Liszewski had passed away, due to complications from COVID-19. We are shaken and grieving.
“Tim joined Indivisible in April 2018. He supported Indivisible groups across a sprawling turf, which at times included the Plains states, the Midwest and Carolinas.
“Tim was kind, sharp, funny, and a great organizer committed to fighting for justice - whether with Indivisible, on the Bernie Sanders campaign, in local races, or to end the Iraq War. He was loved and respected by his team for his quiet leadership, depth of organizing craft, and kindness. He was devoted to and proud of his children, Rebecca and Aaron, and his granddaughter Amber. Tim was excited to get married to his fiancee Maris in May. He was working through hiking the entire Appalachian trail. He fed the homeless every weekend in South Carolina.
“Among many other roles he took in his long career in activism, Tim served on the executive committee of the South Carolina Progressive Network, a coalition of organizations and activists promoting social and economic justice across the state. Donations can be sent to support the group’s permanent home and community gathering space in Columbia, SC.
“Our hearts are with Tim’s loved ones, and with everyone in our movement who’s facing illness, who has lost someone, or who is afraid for someone they love. We will continue to be inspired by Tim’s commitment to the fight for a better world. We will miss him terribly.”
