Washington, DC — Today, Indivisible announced the next slate of Congressional candidates to earn the endorsement of the national organization. The endorsement announcement comes nearly a month after the national progressive organization endorsed presumptive Democratic nominee, former Vice President Joe Biden.
Following a string of victories in Democratic primaries across the country (like Marie Newman in Illinois and Thomasina Marsili in Indiana), Indivisible is continuing its commitment to sending more progressive voices to the halls of Congress with its largest round of congressional endorsements yet. At the same time the organization is devoting resources to supporting Biden, it is also ramping up its efforts to build on the victories of the historic 2018 election and to continue the steady growth of progressives in Congress.
“Indivisible is proud to add these nine candidates to our list of endorsements. This round of candidates shows us that there is enthusiasm in every part of the country for progressive leaders,” IE political director Lucy Solomon said. “Our candidates come from the Southwest, the Midwest, the South and the Northeast. They represent rural areas and some of the country’s biggest cities; blue states and red states. But what they all have in common is the backing of strong grassroots activists who are committed to working hard to improve their districts and states. We are motivated to do everything we can to ensure they win in November and we look forward to working with them once they are elected to office.”
This round of endorsees includes a mix of both progressive incumbents -- like Senator Ed Markey and Congresswoman Deb Haaland -- and primary challengers looking to unseat conservative and moderate incumbents -- like Keeda Haynes challenging Blue Dog Rep. Jim Cooper and Robbie Goldstein running against Rep. Stephen Lynch. The list also includes candidates who have already secured the Democratic Party’s nomination and are preparing for the general election like Ray Lenzi and Dani Brzozowski, both from Illinois. The full list of newly endorsed candidates can be found below.
To earn Indivisible’s national endorsement, a candidate must clear a tough three-stage process that requires broad support from local Indivisible group members at multiple points. All endorsed candidates must have a strong progressive platform aligned with our movement’s values and the enthusiastic support of informed energized voters in their district.

- Robbie Goldstein for MA-08
- Cathy Kunkel for WV-02

- Jillian Freeland for CO-05
- Ray Lenzi for IL-12
- Deb Haaland for NM-01
