WASHINGTON — Indivisible Action, one of the leading national grassroots organizations, announced a new political program dedicated to protecting Democratic majorities in the House and Senate. The new initiative, named “Give No Ground,” will provide support to vulnerable incumbents who are crucial to Democrats achieving their agenda this Congress and whose districts and states must remain blue for Democrats to hold trifecta power in 2022.
The first seats selected for the program are:
- CA-45 Katie Porter
- CA-49 Mike Levin
- GA-06 Lucy McBath
- GA-SEN Raphael Warnock
- IL-14 Lauren Underwood
- NJ-03 Andy Kim
- NY-19 Antonio Delgado
- PA-08 Matt Cartwright
This will be Indivisible’s first political program solely dedicated to protecting incumbents, though Indivisible Action and the Indivisible movement have played a role in both primary and general election races of all kinds since their founding. The “Give No Ground” program will be an additional investment on top of Indivisible’s endorsement program, which will continue to focus on supporting closely-aligned progressive champions in both primary and general elections.
“Protecting Democratic majorities in the House and the Senate is Indivisible’s top political priority of 2022, and the Give No Ground program is the embodiment of that commitment. We know that every progressive priority, and the fate of the Biden agenda, depends on holding Congress in 2022,” said Ezra Levin, Co-Founder and Co-Executive Director. “From our past experience saving the Affordable Care Act, building the 2018 Blue Wave, and defeating Donald Trump, we know that this is what it takes to win-- an ecosystem of organizations working together to make sure no voter is left behind. Through Give No Ground, Indivisible will be on the frontlines of that fight.”
“It’s going to take all-hands-on-deck to hold our majorities in 2022. At Indivisible, we’re building this new Give No Ground program so we can show up in some of the most important races in the country, and do the things we do best. We see a particular opportunity this cycle for Indivisible to offer expert guidance to animated progressives on how they can best channel their energy into impact,” said Lucy Solomon, National Political Director. “Members of the Indivisible community, and progressives in general, are very aware that these majorities are in danger, and Give No Ground will signal to these folks: Here’s where to give, and here’s where to volunteer to make the biggest difference.”
The “Give No Ground” races will include some of the most highly-watched districts in the country. The exact details of the program’s IE spending and volunteer mobilization tactics are still in development, but will be designed to be a value-add in every contest. The list of targeted races will reflect the evolving electoral landscape, with additional seats expected to be added as races become more competitive throughout the cycle. Programming will build directly on expertise Indivisible Action has built over past cycles, and grounded in one of Indivisible’s core beliefs: that Democrats win when they fight for every potential vote, overlooking no one. General direct voter contact efforts in different districts will vary, but will include multilingual outreach, including phonebanking, texts, radio and newspaper advertising and other elements.
