CALL NOW: Stop Trump’s Crypto Corruption

On July 17th, the House passed the CLARITY Act (H.R. 3633), a bill disguised as “crypto regulation” but actually serves the billionaires and bad actors at the center of today’s crypto chaos. This bill doesn’t protect consumers, doesn’t close money laundering loopholes, and does nothing to stop the biggest threat of all: Trump’s crypto-fueled bribery machine. 

So, what exactly would it do? The CLARITY Act would create a massive loophole that would allow companies like Tesla and GM to move their stocks to the blockchain, thereby bypassing SEC oversight, dodging disclosure rules, and destabilizing our entire economy. It's the same playbook from the greedy CEOs and financial elites that led us into the Great Financial Crisis–dismantle regulation, engage in rampant fraud, and leave us holding the bill when they crash the economy.

The Trump family has already launched multiple cryptocurrencies that they’re using to accept bribes. Recently, the UAE utilized one of Trump’s cryptocurrencies in a $2 billion deal, potentially earning Trump millions. Trump is using his other cryptocurrency to run a pay-to-play scheme, where the top investors get to attend a fancy gala at the White House and have face time with the President. 

As Senator Chris Murphy put it, Trump is effectively posting his “Venmo or CashApp online for every corporate interest and foreign government to funnel money directly into his bank account.” And yet, some Democrats want to pass a crypto-friendly bill that does nothing to rein this in, enabling Trump’s crypto corruption. 

Despite initially helping tank the rule and delaying the vote, 78 House Democrats helped pass the  CLARITY Act–without the guardrails we need to stop fraud, stabilize the markets, or protect our democracy from crypto-backed corruption. That’s unacceptable. 

Call your Democratic Senators now and tell them to stop Trump’s crypto corruption and VOTE NO on the CLARITY Act. We won’t let Congress enable more of Trump’s corruption or gamble away our financial stability just to appease crypto billionaires.
