Demand Your Republican Representative Cosponsor H.R. 2753: The Hands Off Medicaid and SNAP Act
Republicans in Congress have just passed a budget blueprint that puts Medicaid, SNAP, and other essential programs on the chopping block.
The blueprint gives Congress instructions to slash at least $1.5 trillion in spending in order to pay for massive tax breaks for billionaires like Elon Musk. And, while Republicans are denying that they’ll slash Medicaid and SNAP, it would be impossible to make such deep cuts without gutting the essential programs that working families rely on.
They’re trying to avoid accountability because they know that their plan is unpopular. That’s why they’re using budget reconciliation—a wonky process that would allow them to pass legislation with only Republican votes—to ram through these outrageous cuts. We can’t let them get away with it.
We need to get them on record refusing to protect vital programs. Democrats have introduced a bill, H.R. 2753, the Hands off Medicaid and SNAP Act, which would prohibit funding cuts to either program via reconciliation. If Republicans really had no intentions of slashing Medicaid or SNAP, they would work with Democrats to pass this bill and protect these programs. And if they won’t support the bill, then their real intentions are clear.
Some House Republicans are already feeling the pressure from their constituents and recently sent a letter to Mike Johnson asking him to preserve Medicaid. Those representatives are:
Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06)
David Valadao (CA-22)
Young Kim (CA-40)
Jeff Hurd (CO-03)
Don Bacon (NE-02)
Jefferson Van Drew (NJ-02)
Nick LaLota (NY-01)
Andrew Garbarino (NY-02)
Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11)
Rob Bresnahan (PA-08)
Robert Wittman (VA-01)
Jen Kiggans (VA-02)
If your MoC is listed above, it’s even more critical that they’re forced on the record picking a side: will they fight for Medicaid, SNAP, and the vital programs their constituents rely on, or will they fight for handouts to billionaires? The more these Republicans feel the heat from us, the more likely they are to push back on these extreme cuts and slow down—or even derail—the reconciliation bill.

Demand that they vote for H.R. 2753, the Hands Off Medicaid and SNAP Act to protect these vital programs in the reconciliation bill.

Cosponsor the Hands off Medicaid and SNAP Act
Hello, I’m a constituent from [part of state], and I am outraged that [Representative] voted for a budget resolution that will result in massive cuts to Medicaid, SNAP, and other critical programs in order to give massive tax breaks to the rich.
If [Representative] truly cares about their constituents, they will support or vote H.R. 2743, the Hands Off Medicaid and SNAP Act, to protect these essential programs from being slashed during reconciliation.
Hardworking Americans should not be paying the price for these billionaire handouts. I would like to know where [Representative] stands on this bill and what they’re prepared to do to protect these programs that their constituents depend on.
Your call to hold House Republicans accountable makes all the difference! Tell all your friends to call as well!
