"Neighbors talking to neighbors is how we will win this election and secure our rights."
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Neighbor2Neighbor found to be twice as impactful as traditional canvassing at turning out voters
- Volunteer signups up 50% in Arizona in the last 24 hours
Washington, D.C. — Today, Indivisible Action announced the rollout of its tool Neighbor2Neighbor, an innovative, relational doorknocking program to knock 200,000 doors in House, Senate, and Presidential battlegrounds.
“Face-to-face outreach from a trusted messenger really matters for successful GOTV. For a long time, we’ve known that harnessing personal relationships (aka “relational organizing”) is one of the best ways to mobilize voters. Neighbor2Neighbor's key insight is that it taps into an underappreciated relationship: our neighbors. Instead of giving a volunteer a long list of strangers, we give them a short list of neighbors,” said Ezra Levin, co-executive director of Indivisible. “Our 2022 pilot in Senate swing states found this to be twice as impactful as traditional canvassing.”
As of today, volunteers in key target states and districts are now able to pre-register to be assigned 10 neighbors to participate in the program.
In Arizona, Neighbor2Neighbor canvassing began in March as part of Indivisible’s Battleground: Arizona program. Volunteer signups have spiked 50% in the past day, with more than 60 different cities and towns represented across the state, following the news that the state’s supreme court had ruled in favor of an 1865 near-total abortion ban.
“If Republicans take one thing away from this moment, I hope it's this: They can't outrun the grassroots wave that's coming for them. In the last 24 hours, we saw a 50% spike in sign-ups to gather signatures in Arizona,” said Mari Urbina, Indivisible’s managing director who is overseeing Indivisible’s Battleground: Arizona program. “Neighbors talking to neighbors is how we will win this election and secure our rights.”
In NY-03 this February, local Indivisible volunteers recently used the Neighbor2Neighbor tool to boost turnout and help elect Rep. Tom Suozzi.
"We are still celebrating a big win, flipping NY-03 back to blue. One of the tools that really helped us with that victory was Indivisble's Neighbor2Neighbor program," said Rachel Klein of Engage Long Island, speaking to potential volunteers in a video. "This program is really so fantastic for experienced canvassers or people who are new to knocking. You sign up, and Indivisible will send you a list of ten, solid-Dem households. You don't have to drive across the district. Knocking ten doors is honestly really easy and anybody can do it. Once you try, you knock that ten, you'll feel that sense of accomplishment, and you'll be inclined to ask for ten more. With the stakes so high, we all need to be doing our part this year."
