Washington — Following news of the passing of Sen. Dianne Feinstein, Leah Greenberg, co-executive director of Indivisible, released the following statement:
“Dianne Feinstein was an icon of the Senate. In her decades of trailblazing public service, she broke ground and helped solidify what women could do in American politics again and again. During her time as California’s senator, she was a ground-breaking champion for gun safety, and a force for accountability and transparency on the CIA’s use of torture, who expected better from our country in its darkest moments.
“Because the business of the Senate continues as urgently as ever, and her constituents in the country’s largest state need a voice in Washington, our expectation is that a new California senator will be quickly named, and that other senators will take over her role on senate committees, including the all-too-critical Judiciary Committee.
“May her memory be a blessing.”
