Washington, DC — Today, Leah Greenberg, Co-Executive Director of the Indivisible Project, issued the following statement following Greg Casar’s victory in the Democratic Party primary for Texas’ 35th Congressional District:
“Greg Casar is part of a new generation of progressive leaders who know the status quo can’t stand. As a member of Congress, he’ll still be an organizer at heart, the kind of activist legislator we need more of to win real change. This is not just a win, but an overwhelming victory for progressives from Austin to San Antonio. Voters believe in Greg’s vision of good jobs and fair wages, healthcare for all, and an inclusive democracy that protects the right to vote.
“Progressives will carry this momentum forward to other open-seat races across the country, from Pennsylvania and Illinois to Oregon and Vermont. This will be the year we fill the halls of Congress with champions like Greg and solidify progressive power in Congress.”
