With June 1 Deadline Looming, Indivisible Announces Week of Action: “Stop the MAGA Default Crisis”
Actions planned across the country May 19 - 26
Washington, D.C. — Indivisible announced a week of action to stop the MAGA default crisis from May 19 to May 26, following Janet Yellen's announcement that the ‘U.S. Could Run Out of Cash by June 1.’ Indivisible is asking concerned constituents to hold rallies and protests at the offices of Republican Members of Congress, descend on town halls, and make their voices heard.
"The stakes are at an all-time high as we approach the precipice of the MAGA Default Crisis fight. Kevin McCarthy and the MAGA extremists who are in charge of the GOP are trying to cut Medicaid, jeopardizing care for 21 million people who count on it, especially disabled kids and seniors in nursing homes. They want to cut K-12 education, eliminating teachers’ jobs and impacting the education of 32 million kids. They want to take food security away from families who need it and strip programs that will help seniors pay their heating bills next winter. All of this for what? So MAGA lawmakers like Kevin McCarthy can line the pockets of their billionaire donors,” said Ezra Levin, Indivisible’s co-founder and co-executive director. “But--we are not going to sit back and let them win. We are calling on Indivisibles to organize to let their Republican representatives know, loud and clear, that any cuts to our healthcare, our schools, or any other crucial programs will not be the price paid by the people for an extremist Republican temper tantrum. And we need to let our Democratic representatives know: hold the line. Democrats in Congress are the last line of defense against these cruel MAGA cuts, and Indivisibles will have their backs as they continue to fight for us.”
