Monthly recurring gifts are important to help build long-term support and raise more funds, and donors can easily set up monthly gifts through your ActBlue page! Dig in on monthly gifts and why they matter:
-
You can raise more money. The average recurring donor will give 42% more in a year than donors who give one-time gifts. If even a small portion of your donors decide to give monthly, this can have a huge snowball effect!
-
Donors give longer. For non-monthly donors, only 23% of new donors will give again the following year. For monthly donors, this number jumps up to 80%! This means that if you have 10 donors of $50 each, for example, monthly giving could be the difference between receiving $115 and $400 in donations the following year. Donors who give year after year are crucial to your group’s long-term stability and success.
-
It’s convenient. It’s easy for donors to budget for regular, monthly expenses rather than giving a lump sum that wasn’t budgeted for. Many donors prefer to give this way.
-
Donors are more invested in the work. When donors know that they’re funding your group’s activities each month, they’ll feel a deeper sense of commitment and investment in your work. (Make sure they’re on your mailing list and like your pages on social media so they can see what you’re up to!)
-
You can budget more effectively. If you know how much you can expect in revenue each month, you’ll be able to better plan for your expenses. More efficient planning = getting more stuff done!
Time to start asking for monthly gifts!
Tip #1: You can ask anyone for monthly gifts. But it’s a good idea to identify a few loyal donors or supporters who are already supporting your work and ask them directly if they can support you monthly. You can view your donors in ActBlue to see who is already donating monthly. View instructions here.
Tip #2: Not sure where to start? Here’s a sample email to personalize and send right now!
Tip #3: You can change the settings on your ActBlue page so that a pop-up appears, asking every donor if they’d like to make their gift monthly. You can find details and instructions here.
