    Trump’s administration is in full-on power grab mode, shredding laws, defying courts, and handing control of the country’s financial system to a billionaire crony. This isn’t just corruption—it’s an outright coup.

    Trump’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) just tried to commit economic terrorism. A secret memo slashed all federal funding for child nutrition, healthcare for tens of millions, domestic violence shelters, and veterans’ programs. The public outrage was swift. A federal judge blocked it. But let’s be clear: this was a dry run, and they’ll try again.

    Elon Musk just got his hands on the U.S. Treasury Payments system. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent handed Musk access to the system that moves trillions of dollars. What’s the plan? Cut off funding for social programs? Leak financial data to his private empire? No one knows—because there is no oversight. No one elected this man. And yet, now he’s holding the government’s financial infrastructure hostage.

    The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) has been gutted. Trump’s hack Russell Vought ordered all investigations and enforcement actions to stop. Banks, payday lenders, and credit card companies just got the green light to scam working people with zero consequences. The watchdogs guarding $16 trillion in consumer debt? Fired.

    JD Vance is laying the groundwork for dictatorship. After a federal judge temporarily blocked Trump’s economic sabotage, Vance made it clear: courts should have no authority to check Trump’s power. This is full-blown authoritarianism. Their plan is simple—ignore the courts, ignore Congress, and rule by decree.

    And while this coup unfolds in broad daylight, congressional Republicans are pushing through two massive power grabs:

    The Republican government funding bill is a blank check for Trump’s power grab. Government funding runs out on March 14th — and Republicans need Democratic votes to avoid a shutdown. But instead of negotiating a responsible spending bill, they’re demanding a bill that rubber-stamps Trump’s destruction of our democracy.

    The Trump Tax Scam 2.0 is a billionaire giveaway. But avoiding a government shutdown doesn’t seem to be a priority for Republicans. They’re more focused on the Trump Tax Scam, their tax plan that sells out everyday Americans to help billionaires like Elon Musk get even richer. They want to give the ultra-wealthy trillions of dollars in tax breaks and are expecting the rest of us to foot the bill. 

    Enough. We need all-out, relentless constituent pressure to stop this coup in its tracks. Republicans must be held accountable for enabling it. And Democrats must use every ounce of leverage and power they have to fight back. The stakes couldn’t be higher.

    Trump and Musk are trying to bulldoze every check on their power, but Congress still has the ability to fight back—if we make them. House Democrats need to go all-in to use their leverage and every procedural tool that's available to fight back, and Republicans need to feel the heat for enabling the Trump-Musk coup and cutting working people’s health care and food assistance to give massive tax breaks to billionaires.

    Every single member of Congress must be forced to take a side. Will they stand with working people, or with the billionaires looting the country? Remind them that it's Elon or us, but it can't be both.

    If You Have a Republican Member of Congress: Make Them Own the Coup

    House Republicans aren’t just complicit in the Trump-Musk coup—they are actively fueling it. Instead of protecting everyday Americans, they’re ramming through an extremist spending bill, gutting critical programs, and shoveling billions in tax breaks to Trump’s billionaire cronies.

    Every single Republican needs to feel the heat: If they vote for the Trump Tax Scam—if they keep looking the other way as Trump and Musk seize power—they will pay the price. Period.

    • Make them answer for their betrayal. Call them out in public, at town halls, in their district offices, and on their phone lines. Demand to know: Why are they slashing Medicaid and SNAP for working families just to hand massive tax cuts to billionaires? No hiding. No spin.
    • Force them to take a stance. Put them on record. Ask them point blank: Will you vote for the Trump Tax Scam that rips away healthcare and puts food assistance on the chopping block? No dodging. No excuses. Make them say it out loud.
    • Make sure voters never forget. If they vote for this tax scam, plaster their name all over their district. Every voter should know exactly who sold them out and who is responsible for the consequences.
    • Show up, online and in person. Drag their complicity into the light—blast them on social media, flood local news with letters and op-eds, take action in their districts. Let them know that we are watching.

    Republicans think they can sneak this coup past the American people. It’s time to make them regret it.

    • If You Have a Democratic Member of Congress: Make Them Use Their Leverage

    Republicans are in chaos, and that gives Democrats in both the House and Senate serious power—but only if they have the backbone to use it. This isn’t the time for hand-wringing or empty statements. We need them to fight.

    • Demand they block any spending bill deal that enables Trump’s sabotage. Republicans can’t pass a funding bill without Democratic votes. That means Democrats hold the cards—if they refuse to fold. Tell them: No deal unless it includes ironclad safeguards to stop the Trump-Musk coup.
    • Make them hold the line. No extreme MAGA cuts. No GOP poison pills. No compromises with fascists. Democrats must publicly demand a funding bill that protects critical programs instead of rubber-stamping Trump’s power grab. Silence is not an option.
    • Tell them: No full-year spending bill unless Republicans agree to our terms. If the GOP refuses to negotiate in good faith, Democrats must not budge beyond a two-week continuing resolution to keep the government open while they fight.
    • Force them to use every procedural tool to grind Trump’s agenda to a halt. That means slowing down business in both chambers, exposing Republican complicity, and making it impossible for Trump’s cronies to steamroll the country unchecked.

    Democrats have the power to stop this. Now they need the spine to use it.

    Trump wants you to feel powerless. Do not fall for it. Republicans hold Congress, but they are not all-powerful. The only way they succeed in breaking the government, defunding vital programs, and handing the spoils to billionaires like Musk is if we let them.

    We are at a breaking point. Democrats can fight like hell, or they can roll over and let this happen. But if they choose the latter, we must make sure they regret it. And for Republicans—they need to hear loud and clear that their constituents (the people they work for) will not stand by as they let Donald Trump and an unelected billionaire sell our democracy for parts. 

    Remember: Trump is not invincible. He has no mandate. His agenda is cruel, corrupt, chaotic, and deeply unpopular. And the longer it goes on, the harder it is to sustain in the face of real opposition. That’s our job now—to build that opposition. We need you to step up, speak out, and demand a real fight.
