CALL NOW: Tell Your Democratic Senator You’re Angry They Caved And Supported the Republican Continuing Resolution
Despite Chuck Schumer announcing that Senate Democrats were united in fighting for a clean, 30-day continuing resolution to keep the government open without handing Trump and Musk a blank check, 10 Dems (including Schumer himself) caved and allowed a terrible Republican CR to pass.
That CR is the opposite of “clean.” It includes massive cuts that will jeopardize Social Security, leave tens of thousands of families without homes or food, and slashes benefits to veterans. It’s a slush fund that gives Trump and Elon Musk even more power over federal spending. Instead of trying to rein in the Trump and Musk power grab, this CR legitimizes it.
The following Democrats voted for cloture on the CR, allowing it to overcome the filibuster:
- Sen. Chuck Schumer (NY)
- Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (NY)
- Sen. John Fetterman (PA)
- Sen. Brian Schatz (HI)
- Sen. Dick Durbin (IL)
- Sen. Maggie Hassan (NH)
- Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (NH)
- Sen. Catherine Cortez-Maso (NV)
- Sen. Gary Peters (MI)
- Sen. Angus King (ME)
It was not enough to symbolically vote no on the final passage of the CR. And in the case of Shaheen and King, they didn’t even do that. Senate Dems had the leverage to hold the line and block the vote, but these Senators caved and now everyday Americans will pay the price.
Congress may have avoided a shutdown, but the extreme cuts in the Republican CR will cause even more harm to our communities and Democrats lost their only real leverage for reining in Trump and Musk.
If your Senator is listed above, fill out this form right now and we’ll connect you to their office. Tell them that you’re outraged they voted yes on cloture for the Republican CR. Let them know that you expect them to fight hard for their constituents, not give in to extreme Republican demands.

Your vote to invoke cloture on the Republican continuing resolution was unacceptable
Hello, I’m a constituent from [part of state], and I’m calling to tell [Senator] that I’m disappointed that they voted for cloture on the Republican continuing resolution, even though that bill makes extreme cuts to essential programs and legitimizes the Trump-Musk power grab.
It does not matter if they voted no on final passage of the CR, because their cloture vote allowed the bill to move forward. That was symbolic opposition that will do nothing to stop the pain of this CR.
Tell [Senator] that I expect my elected officials to stand up for everyday Americans, not cave and support Republican bills that give Elon Musk even more power over federal spending. I want to be able to celebrate [Senator] as a fighter, but they need to earn it by actually fighting back against the MAGA agenda.
