Washington, DC — Following the presidential debate tonight, Leah Greenberg, Co-Founder and Co-Executive Director of Indivisible, and Sean Eldridge, Founder and President of Stand Up America, issued the following statement:
“The confusion and doubt that Donald Trump tried to sow about the election tonight is the behavior of a desperate man and a losing candidate.
“Elections are at the heart of what makes our democracy great, and the American people are not going to allow one weak man ruin that. That’s why Indivisible and Stand Up America launched Protect the Results earlier this year as a project aimed at protecting the valid results of the 2020 election by building the infrastructure to mobilize millions of Americans should Trump take steps to undermine the outcome of the election. From conservative organizations to faith groups to labor unions, we are building a broad network of people who are working to make sure every vote is counted and preparing to mobilize if Trump attempts to undermine the valid results. The voters will have the last word.
“While we work to resoundingly defeat Donald Trump in this election, preparing to also protect the results of this election isn’t just reasonable, it’s necessary.”

ABOUT THE INDIVISIBLE PROJECT
The Indivisible Project (501c4) is a social movement non-profit driven by a vision of a real democracy - of, by, and for the people. Indivisible began in 2016 as a viral guide to resisting Trump’s agenda. Today, the Indivisible movement is a network of thousands of local groups and millions of activists across every state. The Indivisible Project drives campaigns for bold progressive policies, lobbies Congress, and equips activists with tools to build lasting progressive power, everywhere. Together, we fight to defeat the rightwing takeover of American government and build an inclusive democracy.
