Washington, DC — Today, Indivisible announced its endorsement of eight candidates for Congress. The announcement is the latest for the grassroots organization, which endorses throughout each election cycle. The candidates represent six states and are as follows:
Chris Bubser (CA-08)
Harley Rouda (CA-48)
E. Thomasina Marsili (IN-08)
Hank Linderman (KY-02)
Cynthia Wallace (NC-09)
Ben Ray Lujan (NM-Sen)
Sri Kulkarni (TX-22)
Julie Oliver (TX-25)
“Indivisible is proud to endorse these eight candidates for the House of Representatives and the Senate. All of these candidates have shown they are committed to fighting for progressive change in Washington and have dedicated themselves to running grassroots campaigns devoid of corporate PAC money,” IE political director Lucy Solomon said. “It’s clear now that 2020 cannot be a year when we aim to regress to the status quo that left so many people drowning. Instead, we need fierce leaders to push the limits of what we can accomplish and make 2021 the year we begin to pass the systemic reforms our democracy needs. We know the candidates we are endorsing today will be those leaders and we are committed to doing all we can to help them put up this fight in Washington.”
The endorsement from one of the leading national progressive organizations will be a boost for many campaigns which are facing shifting electoral calendars and nationwide fear of voting, due to the national pandemic. Several have repurposed their campaigns to help respond to COVID-19 in their communities, from gathering donations for local hospitals to organizing food assistance for those in need.
To earn Indivisible’s national endorsement, a candidate must clear a tough three-stage process that requires broad support from local Indivisible group members at multiple points. All endorsed candidates must have a strong progressive platform aligned with our movement’s values and the enthusiastic support of informed energized voters in their district.
