Washington, D.C. — Today, Leah Greenberg, Indivisible’s co-founder and co-executive director, released the following statement calling on the resignation or removal of Eric Adams from office:
“This week’s revelations make clear that Eric Adams has entered into an explicit quid pro quo to do the Trump administration’s bidding instead of serving New Yorkers in order to escape criminal corruption charges. If Adams had an ounce of integrity in his body, he would have resigned long ago. He clearly does not and thus he must be removed.
“New Yorkers have long deserved better than the corruption, self-interest, and pathetic groveling of Mayor Eric Adams. Not only has he been indicted and routinely betrayed the public’s trust through a series of criminal and outrageous scandals. Not only is he announcing he will partner with the extreme, anti-immigrant bigots in the Trump administration to sell out New Yorkers and their communities. This week’s revelations make clear he’ll sell out anyone and anything in the hopes that he’ll be spared from consequences for his crimes.
“New Yorkers’ values and safety are at risk every day he remains in office. He’s gotta go. Indivisible stands with Indivisible groups and activists across New York in calling for Adams to resign or be removed.”
Yesterday, over 80 Indivisible groups sent a letter to Governor Hochul urging her to use her power as the Governor of a blue trifecta state to protect the state from Trump, including through actions like removing NYC Mayor Eric Adams and protecting immigrant New Yorkers.
