“Groups like those in Washington’s eighth district shaped the map this cycle and this victory belongs to them.”
Washington, DC—The Indivisible Project’s National Political Director María Urbina released the following statement:
“Kim Schrier is one of many women this cycle who decided not to wait her turn to run for office. As a pediatrician, she brought her passion for helping families to the campaign and made getting everyone affordable health care a cornerstone of her campaign. She focused on the issues people care about and the progressive values that resonated with her district.
“Kim won because she showed her commitment to the people of the Eighth District and gave them a reason to go to the polls. Indivisible groups in the district were relentless in pressuring Rep. Dave Reichert to vote the right way on issues from health care, to protections for DREAMers, to the Trump Tax Scam. After facing accountability like never before, Reichert opted to retire. With Kim as their candidate, the grassroots worked tirelessly to get her across the finish line. Groups like those in the Eighth District changed what was possible this election cycle. This victory belongs to them.
Indivisible Washington’s 8th leader Chris Petzold released the following statement:
“Dr. Kim Schrier has been a candidate in the true Indivisible spirit. She was driven to run after our congressman voted for TrumpCare and she made sure that everyone in the district knew what she stood for. Kim traveled the district to explain to voters why they should vote for her and their votes prove they believe in her message. We know she will fight for everyone in our district and will work alongside those who got her elected for a better future.”
The Indivisible Project endorsed Kim Schrier following the endorsement of Indivisible Washington’s 8th. To earn Indivisible’s national endorsement, a candidate must clear a tough three-stage process that requires buy-in from local Indivisible group members at multiple points. A candidate cannot be endorsed without a strong platform and the enthusiastic support of informed, energized voters across their district.
