Washington, DC — Today, Leah Greenberg, Co-Executive Director of the Indivisible Project, issued the following statement:
“The Paycheck Fairness Act is common sense legislation that corrects a workplace inequity for a majority of full-time working women. Today, women make about 82 cents for every dollar a man makes, and this discrepancy is even greater for Black, Native American, and Latina women.
“Eliminating wage discrimination is good policy that’s overwhelmingly popular with Americans across the political spectrum. This shouldn’t be remotely controversial. Today’s filibuster proves, yet again, that the Republican party is committed to obstructing basically every part of President Biden’s agenda, regardless of how popular or how needed the legislation is.
“Senate Dems have signaled that economic equality is a priority for them, and the Paycheck Fairness Act would be a key component of any plan for a strong, inclusive, and equitable economic recovery . They have the tools to turn their rhetoric into results and prove their commitment to improving the lives of workers - they just have to get rid of the filibuster to do it.”

ABOUT THE INDIVISIBLE PROJECT
The Indivisible Project (501c4) is a social movement non-profit driven by a vision of a real democracy - of, by, and for the people. Indivisible began in 2016 as a viral guide to resisting Trump’s agenda. Today, the Indivisible movement is a network of thousands of local groups and millions of activists across every state. The Indivisible Project drives campaigns for bold progressive policies, lobbies Congress, and equips activists with tools to build lasting progressive power, everywhere. Together, we fight to defeat the rightwing takeover of American government and build an inclusive democracy.
