Washington, DC—Following Sen. Susan Collins and Sen. Joe Manchin’s announcements that they will vote to confirm Brett Kavanaugh, the Indivisible Project’s Policy Director Angel Padilla released the following statement:
“Susan Collins and Joe Manchin’s announcements — and the cloture vote that preceded them — make clear that Republicans are plowing forward with Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation. In doing so, they are putting their relentless pursuit of a Supreme Court controlled by far-right ideology ahead of the mountain of evidence that proves he’s unfit to serve on the highest court in the land.
“Kavanaugh has clearly lied under oath. His lack of judicial temperament and sharp partisanship show us he isn’t fit to serve on the Supreme Court. The sham FBI investigation that the public can’t view was rushed and left out witnesses that could have further corroborated allegations against him. But Republicans continue to do everything they can to entrench their power at the expense of our democracy.”
The Indivisible Project’s Co-Executive Director Leah Greenberg released the following statement:
“We believe survivors. And we will follow their brave lead as we continue to fight the radical reshaping of our Supreme Court with abusers and right-wing extremists today, tomorrow, and at the ballot box on November 6.”
