Washington, D.C. — Today, Indivisible Action announced its plans for “All In For Harris” events across the country, with a focus on organizing events in swing states.
Designed to capitalize on and demonstrate the widespread grassroots energy behind Vice President Kamala Harris’s rise to the top of the presidential ticket, the events will be taking place over the next two weeks, beginning with some as soon as this evening.
The events will be led and organized by local Indivisible groups in red, purple and blue communities, and will include rallies, volunteer recruitment events, and canvass and phone bank kickoffs. Indivisible Action plans to spend up to half a million dollars to support these actions over the coming weeks, with the final total dependent on the results of ongoing fundraising.
Indivisible endorsed Kamala Harris on Sunday, after a vote in which 93% of polled members supported moving forward with an endorsement. Indivisible is also already driving voter contact efforts for Kamala Harris and Democrats via its innovative Neighbor2Neighbor canvassing program in swing states, key House districts, and states with abortion rights ballot measure campaigns, as well through its Battleground: Arizona program, and is planning national phone banks and other rapid-response efforts.
“We’ve been in close conversation with the local leaders of our movement over the past few weeks. We’ve heard from Indivisibles across the country that Kamala Harris’s name at the top of the ticket will be a fresh opportunity to excite new volunteers, bring new energy to the work and start new conversations with voters. From across our movement, there is a clear consensus that Vice President Harris is the leader for this moment. We know we need every single vote, and our movement is excited to show up and make that happen,” said Leah Greenberg, co-executive director of Indivisible.
Holding actions and earning local media coverage that captures organic energy in political moments has been one of the trademark tactics of the Indivisible movement, from its early days protesting Trump’s attempts to repeal the Affordable Care Act through this spring’s 150+-event weekend of action for abortion rights.
“Local news is still many voters’ most trusted source for political coverage, and local voices from their own community carry unique weight with a lot of people. So we’re eager for folks to make sure the organic energy for Kamala Harris that people are feeling is translating into local headlines,” said Emily Phelps, National Press secretary for Indivisible. “While the Vice President begins holding rallies as the new presidential nominee-- which we’re really excited to see -- we want to show that in all kinds of communities across the country, people are fired up to get to work and turn out every vote for her.”
