Washington, DC — Today, Leah Greenberg, Co-Executive Director of the Indivisible Project, issued the following statement:
“The President’s speech today highlighted the major advances of the first year of his term, and demonstrated conclusively how important his leadership is in this new moment of international crisis. From the economy-rescuing American Recovery Act to a historic Supreme Court nominee, the impact of progressives’ tireless work to win the White House and Congress is clear.
President Biden outlined a bracing reality: democracy is under attack both here and abroad. In the last month, as Russia prepared to invade Ukraine, we’ve seen the difference that patient, steady, seasoned diplomacy has made in preparing, aligning allies, and decisively countering Russian aggression. We stand with the President as he leads in seeking a diplomatic solution to this Putin-induced crisis.
The State of the Union highlights how much progressives can be proud of - and how much more we have to do, this year and in the 2022 midterms. Although conservative Democrats and Republicans succeeded in preventing Americans across the country from benefiting from President Biden’s historic Build Back Better agenda in 2021, he and progressives remain determined to push those priorities through Congress and into law.
“We’ll be keeping up the heat on President Biden to move his legislative agenda through the Senate while simultaneously using his executive authority to swiftly and significantly improve people’s lives through climate action, lower drug prices, fighting predatory loans and more. And as the results in tonight’s primaries showed, there’s a new guard of progressive voices that need our support to make it to Congress and help Biden deliver on his agenda.”

ABOUT THE INDIVISIBLE PROJECT
The Indivisible Project (501c4) is a social movement non-profit driven by a vision of a real democracy - of, by, and for the people. Indivisible began in 2016 as a viral guide to resisting Trump’s agenda. Today, the Indivisible movement is a network of thousands of local groups and millions of activists across every state. The Indivisible Project drives campaigns for bold progressive policies, lobbies Congress, and equips activists with tools to build lasting progressive power, everywhere. Together, we fight to defeat the rightwing takeover of American government and build an inclusive democracy.
