Since announcing his grassroots campaign, Ruben Gallego has met with Indivisible groups across every corner of the state to answer their questions and hear about the issues most important to them: abortion rights, protecting our democracy, water rights, fighting MAGA extremism, and more. A son of immigrants, Ruben had a working class upbringing. He worked his way to Harvard University, and then enlisted in the Marines, deploying to Iraq. Indivisibles recognize in him the grit, integrity, and dedication to public service that we need in a Senator.
Indivisible opposes bringing back failed Trump-era immigration policies, and we oppose handing a future Republican president new powers to inflict their cruel agenda on migrants and asylum seekers.
Our expectation is that all Indivisible groups create spaces that allow for the physical safety and respect for all attendees, and that they appreciate and respect other activists, especially those from marginalized groups, regardless of policy differences.
The ICJ ruling underscores what we’ve known for months - the humanitarian situation in Gaza is beyond a crisis point, and the ongoing military campaign from Israel is actively exacerbating it and causing a catastrophic loss of civilian Palestinian lives. As humanitarian organizations are making clear, the best way for Israel to comply with the provisional measures from the ICJ is an immediate ceasefire and a massive influx of humanitarian aid into Gaza.
Governor Abbott is choosing to defy the federal government in order to unilaterally pursue a cruel and illegal policy of murder on our southern border, outside the checks and balances of our governing system. That Republican office holders across the country are standing with him is as clear a sign as any that this party is lost to anti-American extremism that threatens our very existence.
