Based on the Commission’s report, you’d hardly know there was anything wrong with the Court, let alone that the six conservative extremist justices are casually preparing to overturn Roe v. Wade and 50 years of precedent on abortion rights, not because there’s a constitutional reason to do so, but because their loyalty to Republican politics and power demands it.
Today’s oral arguments on Mississippi’s ban on abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy is further proof that the conservative justices at the Supreme Court are more interested in promoting a far-right extremist ideology than defending the Constitution.
The House just passed a once-in-a-generation piece of legislation that delivers on long-standing Democratic priorities: lowering drug prices, expanding Medicare, affordable child care, paid leave, deportation protection and work permits for many immigrants, and historic investments in housing, home care, and climate. This is a landmark achievement, and once passed through the Senate, will demonstrate to the American people what’s possible when Democrats deliver. And the country has the Congressional Progressive Caucus to thank.
This verdict is a devastating endorsement of right-wing white supremacist vigilante violence. It is the embodiment of the very blatant disregard for Black and brown lives that Kyle Rittenhouse’s victims were protesting. Yet in a trial where the judge wouldn’t even recognize Joseph Rosembaum and Anthony Huber as victims, it is hardly surprising.
